MOVIE AWARD FOR MARIAH

MC obdrží za Precious na 21. výročním Palm Springs mezinárodním filmovém festivalu cenu Breakthrough Performance Award. Festival bude probíhat ve dnech 5.-18. ledna 2010 a galavečer pak 5. ledna v Palm Springs Convention Center. V předchozích letech cenu obdržely např. Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Hudson, Felicity Huffman a Freida Pinto.

The 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will present Mariah Carey with the Breakthrough Performance Award for her performance in Lee Daniels' "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire." The Awards Gala will take place Tuesday, January 5 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The Festival runs January 5-18, 2010. Past recipients of the Breakthrough Performance Award include Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Hudson, Felicity Huffman and Freida Pinto.

So no matter if all that promotional thing is hard to handle. The singer is very glamourous as usual: in black, high heels and of course a plunging neckline... her signature.

PRECIOUS CONTINUES TO SHINE

Dalších 455 kin začalo vysílat Precious minulý týden. Film za tento víkend vydělal 11.007.500 USD v 629 kinech (17.501 USD průměr na kino), celkově pak 21.403.000.

Expanding to 629 screens, this was the weekend for "Precious" to truly prove itself a formidable box office entity. Adding on 455 screens and screening all over the country, it did just that. According to estimates provided by Rentrak today, the Lee Daniels film grossed $11,007,500 over this pre-Thanksgiving holiday weekend, averaging a fantastic $17,501. This was all the more impressive coming in the midst of one of the most robust female-driven box office weekends in film history. "Precious" is now heading into the Thanksgiving frame - one of the most potent of the year - with $21,403,000 already in its pocket, a gross some wondered if it could ever even hit. It's quite possible the film could be pushing $50 million before the awards boosts of December even comes into play.

Forever fascinating, Mariah Carey aka Mrs Nick Cannon is back in the spotlight with her brand new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and will be hitting the big screen again in January as a dowdy social worker in award-winning film Precious. Stuart Brumfitt heard from her about her fav fashion labels, rumours she calls her hubby ‘DJ Sex Fingers’ and getting back into acting after being slated for Glitter.

Where are you at the moment?
I’m in New York. I’ve just arrived after my performance at Rock in Rio, straight after that I flew to California for the LA premiere of Precious. Before that I was in Korea and Tokyo promoting my new album so there has been a lot of flying recently. I’m happy to be back in my home even if it is for a brief moment.

You travel all over the world, but where do you love the most?
I really love Capri, I’ve had many holidays there and love to swim in the sea. I’ve recorded many of my albums there too. I also own a home on Eleuthera in the Bahamas, which is very sentimental to me as it’s where Nick and I got married.

How was Fashion Rocks in Brazil?
Fashion Rocks was really cool. I was so delighted to see my Brazilian fans and I performed a special remix of Fantasy which went down really well. It had the full Carnival feel!

Who are your favourite fashion designers then?
There are so many to mention. At Rio Rocks I performed for Calvin Klein. I wore Dolce & Gabbana at the premiere of Precious at Cannes. I love Versace, Chanel, Dior and Azzedine Alaia.

PGA TO HONOUR PRECIOUS

Precious obdrží cenu Stanley Kramer Award od Sdružení producentů (PGA - The Producers Guild of America) na 21. výročních cenách konaných 24. ledna 2010 v divadle Hollywood Palladium v Los Angeles. Mezi předchozí vítěze tohoto ocenění patří Milk, Dobrou noc a hodně štěstí a Nepříjemná pravda.

The Producers Guild of America have announced that Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire will be honored with the 2010 Stanley Kramer Award. The film's producers will be honored with the award at the 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Hollywood Palladium theatre, L.A. Previous winners include Milk, An Inconvenient Truth and Good Night, and Good Luck.

THE GLOVES ARE OFF

Mariah v článku pro Times Online UK kritizuje hudební vydavatelství, že zaspala dobu. Měla by se podle ní soustředit na digitální prodej, který v dnešní době vede nad prodejem fyzických CD, a to dle vlastních podmínek přímo na jejich webech a na oficiálních stránkách umělců. MC probírá zapojení umělců do nehudebních projektů (reklamy, vlastní módní řady, ad.), stavbu nahrávacího studia na ostrovu Eleuthera na Bahamách, zapojení se do podpory turismu v New Yorku a vlastní řadě kosmetiky, oblečení a doplňků pod značkou Mimi - "Nechci to zkazit tím, že vyberu co mám ráda já, protože to by byla blbost."

Mariah criticizes records companies missed the internet era in the Times Online UK article. According to her, they should focus on digital sale (which leads over the sale of physical CDs now) on their own terms directly on their and official artists' websites. K MC se dle fanoušků ve francouzském pořadu Le Grande Journal nechovali zrovna nejlépe. Ptali se jí na Eminema, chtěli zopakovat "scénku" s parfémem z Ellen a vyzvídali, proč jí bodyguardi často upozorňují, ať dává pozor na cestu - MC na toto odpověděla tím, že vstala a ukázala své vysoké podpatky.

According to fans, the hosts of the French show Le Grand Journal were rude to MC. They asked her about the "Obsessed" video and Eminem also wanted her to re-enact what she did on the Ellen Show with her perfume. They asked her why her bodyguard keeps saying "Watch the step, watch your head" when Mariah is leaving a place, when she's walking on the street. As an explanation, Mariah stood up and showed her high heels.

MC by se měla objevit ve speciálu CBS - Home for the Holidays. CBS se v tomto každoročně vysílaném pořadu (letos po jedenácté) věnuje adoptovaným dětem a pěstounům. Mimo MC by měly vystoupit i Carrie Underwood a Mary J. Blige. Za 10 let se povedlo do náhradních rodin umístit přes 20.000 dětí.

MC should perform in the CBS special - Home for the Holidays. CBS focuses on foster kids who have found families to adopt them in this each year airs show (11th year this time). Also Carrie Underwood and Mary J. Blige should performed besides MC. Over the last 10 years they have succeed to place more than 20,000 kids in permanent homes.

Mariah je zpět doma v New Yorku téměř po dvou týdnech v Evropě. Na Twitteru napsala, že už se nemůže dočkat Nicka a nového štěněte od ChaCha (pozn. ChaCha se narodily dvě štěňátka, ale jedno umřelo, MC to zmínila v Londýně).

Album #1's dnes slaví jedenáctileté výročí. Album Ones bylo vydané 17.11.1998 a propagované současně dvěma novými duety s Jermaine Dupri (Sweetheart, cover verze od Rainy Davis; má skvělé přezpívané remixy) a Whitney Houston (When You Believe, oscarový song z filmu Princ egyptský). Mariah k tomuto albu poznamenala, že tento výběr hitů nejsou greatest hits - ty že vydá později -, ale všechny její jedničky z americké hitparády - celkem 13 hitů #1. Album obsahuje 4 nové songy: Sweetheart, When You Believe, Whenever You Call s Brianem McKnightem (verze jen s MC už byla na Butterfly albu) a I Still Believe (cover verze songu Brendy K. Starr, u které Mariah začínala ve sborech). Vyšlo v různých verzích a s různými bonusy. Na americkém tracklistu byl bonusem song I Don't Wanna Cry. Na mezinárodním tracklistu byl bonustrackem Without You (velký evropský hit) a cover verze Diany Ross Do You Know Where You Going To. V Japonsku bylo album doplněné o japonský #1 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. Normální verze songu Fantasy na Ones byl vyřazena ve prospěch remixové verze s ODB. Ones obdrželo v USA 5x platinu.

The Ones album was released November 11, 1998 and was promoted by two new duets at the same time - with Jermaine Dupri (Sweetheart, Rainy David cover version; with great re-sung remixes) and Whitney Houston (When You Believe, Oscar song from movie The Prince of Egypt). Mariah remarked that this hit song selection is not a greatest hits - she'll released them later -, but all her number ones from US chart - total 13 #1 hits. Album contains 4 new songs: Sweetheart, When You Believe, Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight (only MC version was released on Butterfly album) and I Still Believe (cover version of Brenda K. Starr' song; MC started as her back-vocalist). This album was released in different versions with various bonuses. US tracklist has I Don't Wanna Cry song, international one has Without You (big European hit) and Diana Ross' cover version Do You Know Where You Going To. Album was appended with Japanese #1 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You in Japan. Standard version of Fantasy song was displaced in behalf of remix version with ODB. Ones received five-fold platinum in the US.
