MARIAH CAREY

Debutové album bylo vydáno v červnu 1990. Album začala MC nahrávat po podpisu smlouvy s Tommym Motolou s Columbií/Sony. Vetšinu písní MC napsala s Benem Marguilesem, jejím prvním skladatelem. Na produkci Love Takes Time se už podílel i Walter Afanasieff. Další songy a autory dodala firma - slavná jména jako Narada Walden a Ric Wake. Už prvním singlem vzbudila především v USA ohromný zájem díky svému vyjímečnému 5 oktávovému hlasu a všechny 4 singly z alba obsadily první místo v Billboard HOT 100. Album se po několika měsících od vydání usadilo na celých 11 týdnu na 1. místě albové hitparády. Získala několik cen, včetně těch nejcennějších - 2 Grammy. Album získalo v USA 9x platinu.

The debut album was released on June 12, 1990. MC wrote most of the songs with Ben Margulies, her first co-writer. Walter Afanasieff participated on production of Love Takes Time. MC started with recording after signing the contract with Tommy Motola and Columbia/Sony. Her company brought famous names as Narada Walden and Ric Wake. MC had already evoked huge interest with her first single in the US (and also with her 5 octave voice). All 4 singles from the debut album placed #1 of Billboard HOT 100. After few months, the album reached #1 in album chart for 11 weeks. MC got several awards including the most valuable - two Grammys. CD received nine-fold platinum in the US.

EMOTIONS

Druhé album nazvané Emotions podle prvního singlu bylo vydáno 17.9.1991, v době kdy ještě Mariah slavila úspěchy s debutovým albem. Na Emotions už se opět podílela autorsky na všech písních a hlavně byla koproducentkou všech songů. První singl Emotions se stal jejím pátým #1 singlem. Ten představila na MTV Awards, kde sklidila velký úspěch s celým svým hlasovým rozsahem, včetne nejvyšších tónů. Na tomto albu prvně spolupracovala s dvojicí David Cole/Robert Clivillés (Emotions, Make It Happen, You're So Cold, To Be Around You) a také pro album napsala první písně se svým novým skladatelem Walterem Afanasieffem (And You Don't Remember, Can't Let Go, Till the End of Time), který se podílel i na produkci společných písních (The Wind, If It's Over, So Blessed).

The second album called Emotions named after the first single was released on September 17, 1991. This was the time of ongoing celebrations of debut album success. MC wrote all the songs and also co-produced all of them. The first single Emotions became her fifth #1 single. She introduced the single on MTV Awards viewer and had a notable success with hew whole voice range including the highest notes. For the first time, she worked with David Cole and Robert Clivillés (Emotions, Make It Happen, You're So Cold, To Be Around You). Also MC wrote her first songs with Walter Afanasieff (And You Don't Remember, Can't Let Go, Till the End of Time; only co-produced: The Wind, If It's Over, So Blessed).

MTV UNPLUGGED

Toto CD bylo vydáno 2.6.1992. MTV Unplugged byl vůbec první koncert Mariah, kde předvedla svůj talent a zazpívala písně z debutového alba a Emotions. Novinkou je skladba I'll Be There, hit od Jacksons 5. Vystoupení bylo později vydané na VHS doplněné o 3 videoklipy. CD se stalo jedním z nejúspěšnejších v sérii těchto koncertů pro MTV. Song I'll Be There se stal šestým #1.

This CD was released on June 6, 1992. MTV Unplugged was the first concert for Mariah where she demonstrated her talent and sang songs from her debut album and Emotions. A new song is I'll Be There, The Jacksons' 5 hit. This was MC' first live performance with more songs. She brought very surprising and successful mini-concert to CD in unplugged style. This CD is one of the most successful in these MTV concert series. Song I'll Be There became her sixth #1 single.

MUSIC BOX

Třetí studiové album nazvané Music Box vydala MC 31.8.1993. První singl Dreamlover - sedmý #1 - zaznamenal velký úspěch především v USA díky novému stylu a zvuku, se kterým Mariah započala první úspešnou spolupráci s Dave Hallem. MC opět spolupracovala s duem Cole/Clivillés na dvou urban dance písních (Now That I Know a I've Been Thinking About You). Vetší část převážně baladového alba napsala se stálým autorem Walterem Afanasieffem (Hero, Anytime You Need a Friend, Music Box, Just To Hold You Once Again, All I've Ever Wanted). Hned druhý singl Hero - osmý #1 - si získal všechny fanoušky a stal se stěžejní baladou Mariah, která nesmí chybět na žádném koncertě. MC poprvé spolupracovala s Babyface (Never Forget You, poté Mel Away na Daydream). Nejvetší úspěch si toto album získalo díky třetímu singlu Without You, který odstaroval Mariahmánii po celé Evropě a ostatních zemích světa. Album získalo v USA ocenění Diamant za 10násobnou platinu.

The third studio album called Music Box was released on August 31, 1993. The first single - seventh #1 - Dreamlover was registered big success in the US thanks to its new style and sound. MC started first success co-operation with Dave Hall on this song. She co-operate with duo Cole/Clivillés again on two urban dance tracks (Now That I Know a I've Been Thinking About You). MC wrote majority of the songs from this mostly ballad album with her regular co-writer Walter Afanasieff (Hero, Anytime You Need a Friend, Music Box, Just To Hold You Once Again, All I've Ever Wanted). Her second single Hero won all fan's hearts and became pivotal ballad of Mariah. This emotional ballad became eighth #1 and it must not be eliminated from any tracklist of almost any concert of Mariah. The biggest success of the album came with the third single Without You and blasted off Mariahmania all over Europe and other countries in the world. MC worked with Babyface for the first time (Never Forget You and after that Mel Away on Daydream). Album gained Diamond Award for 10 millions copies in the US.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

V roce 1994 chtěla Mariah dodržet pravidelné vydávání alb každým rokem a tentokrát se rozhodla pro netradiční a velmi překvapivé vánoční album, které bylo vydáno 1.11.1994. Pro tuto vánoční kolekci písní vybrala jak klasické vánoční songy (Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night), tak napsala pro album i tři skladby s Waltrem. Album je velmi populární i po letech a získalo si srdce spousty posluchačů pro vánoční čas. Merry Christmas je jedním z vůbec nejúspěšnějších vánočních alb, s velkým hitem All I Want For Christmas Is You, který přinesl ohromný úspěch v Asii a hlavně v Japonsku, kde je tato píseň stále velmi žádaná. V USA album obdrželo 5x platinu.

MC wanted to keep "one album per year strategy" in 1994 and she decided for nontraditional and very surprising Christmas album this time. It was released November 11, 1994. She picked both classic Christmas songs (Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night) and also she wrote three songs with Walter (All I Wand For Christmas Is You, Miss You Most, Jesus Born On This Day). This album is very popular after all those years from the release date and won listeners' hearts for Christmas time. Merry Christmas is one the best-selling Christmas albums with its big hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. This song became huge hit mostly in Asia; especially Japanese loves and request this song. Christmas album received five-fold platinum in the US.

DAYDREAM

Album Daydream vydané 3.10.1995 potvrdilo úspěch MC a oblíbenost jejích nahrávek. První singl Fantasy zaznamenal ohromný úspěch v USA a začal Mariahmánii v období tohoto alba, které obsadilo první místo v období vánoc. Singl Fantasy debutoval rovnou na 1. místě a celkem 8 týdnu kraloval Billboardu. O týden později debutoval opět na 1. místě další singl One Sweet Day a zůstal rekordních 16 týdnů. Na albu spolupracovala opět s Walterem Afanasieffem (Underneath The Stars, One Sweet Day, Looking In, Forever, I Am Free, When I Saw You) a poprvé přizvala ke spolupráci Jermaina Dupriho (Always Be My Baby, Long Ago, remix ABMB). Skvělé remixy opět připravil David Morales k Fantasy a Always Be My Baby a Mariah je dokonale přezpívala do tanečních verzí. Poprvé Mariah pozvala na remixové verze hitu ABMB a Fantasy rapující Da Brat. Fantasy remix s ODB se stal jedním z nejlepších remixů MC. V USA získalo album ocenění Diamant.

The Daydream album released October 3, 1995 confirmed success of MC and popularity of her recordings. First single Fantasy (co-operation with Dave Hall) registered huge success in the US and started Mariahmania there. This album became number one in holiday season. Single Fantasy debuted on #1 and had been reigned the chart for eight weeks (ninth #1). Second single One Sweet Day debuted also as #1 one week later (tenth #1) and hold the position for record-breaking sixteen weeks (the third single debuted on #1 is Honey). She co-operated with Walter Afanasieff for this album again (Underneath The Stars, One Sweet Day, Looking In, Forever, I Am Free, When I Saw You) and this was the first time she invited Jermaine Dupri (Always Be My Baby, Long Ago and ABMB remix). David Morales prepared great remixes for Fantasy and Always Be My Baby and Mariah re-sing them to dance versions. MC also invited Da Brat for the first time (ABMB remix). Fantasy remix with ODB became one of the greatest remixes of Mariah. Fourth single of the album - Always Be My Baby became her eleventh #1. The album received Diamond Award in the US.

BUTTERFLY

Butterfly vyšlo 16.9.1997 a je podle Mariah i fanoušků nejosobitějším albem, co kdy napsala a jedním z nejlépe hodnocených. Album má nový styl i zvuk, stále více RnB a hip hopu. Hostující rapery pozvala už na albové verze písní (Krayzie Bone), ale i do remixů (Da Brat, Mase, JD). Přesto je album postavené především na klasických baladách Mariah, naposledy napsaných s Walterem. Tyto písně byly jejich poslední spoluprací a vzešly z ní ty nejhezčí balady MC (My All, Butterfly, Close My Eyes, Whenever You Call, ad.). První singl Honey se stal třetím songem MC debutujícím na #1, už dvanáctým #1 v pořadí. Třináctým se stala nádherná balada My All. Album debutovalo na #1 a získalo 5x platinu. Honey a Butterfly byly nominovány na Grammy.

Her album Butterfly was released on September 16, 1997. MC and her fans think is her most personal album she ever wrote. The reception of this album was great from most of the critics. The album has a new style and sound, MC inclines to RnB and hip-hop more and more. She invited guest rappers already on album the version of songs (Bone Thugs-n-Harmony) and also on remixes (Da Brat, Mase, JD). In spite of the new sound the album is build on classic MC ballads. She wrote them with Walter for the last time. Most beautiful ballads of Mariah were arisen from this last co-operation of them (My All, Butterfly, Close My Eyes, Whenever You Call, etc). First single Honey became third MC’s song debuting on #1 - twelfth in the order. The fourth single My All became thirteenth #1. Album debuted on #1 and received five-fold platinum. Honey and Butterfly were nominated on Grammy.

#1's

Album Ones bylo vydané 17.11.1998 a propagované současně dvěma novými duety s Jermaine Dupri (Sweetheart, cover verze od Rainy Davis; má skvělé přezpívané remixy) a Whitney Houston (When You Believe, oscarový song z filmu Princ egyptský). Mariah k tomuto albu poznamenala, že tento výběr hitů nejsou greatest hits - ty že vydá později -, ale všechny její jedničky z americké hitparády - celkem 13 hitů #1. Album obsahuje 4 nové songy: Sweetheart, When You Believe, Whenever You Call s Brianem McKnightem (verze jen s MC už byla na Butterfly albu) a I Still Believe (cover verze songu Brendy K. Starr, u které Mariah začínala ve sborech). Vyšlo v různých verzích a s různými bonusy. Na americkém tracklistu byl bonusem song I Don't Wanna Cry. Na mezinárodním tracklistu byl bonustrackem Without You (velký evropský hit) a cover verze Diany Ross Do You Know Where You Going To. V Japonsku bylo album doplněné o japonský #1 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. Normální verze songu Fantasy na Ones byl vyřazena ve prospěch remixové verze s ODB. Ones obdrželo v USA 5x platinu.

The Ones album was released November 11, 1998 and was promoted by two new duets at the same time - with Jermaine Dupri (Sweetheart, Rainy David cover version; with great re-sung remixes) and Whitney Houston (When You Believe, Oscar song from movie The Prince of Egypt). Mariah remarked that this hit song selection is not a greatest hits - she'll released them later -, but all her number ones from US chart - total 13 #1 hits. Album contains 4 new songs: Sweetheart, When You Believe, Whenever You Call with Brian McKnight (only MC version was released on Butterfly album) and I Still Believe (cover version of Brenda K. Starr' song; MC started as her back-vocalist). This album was released in different versions with various bonuses. US tracklist has I Don't Wanna Cry song, international one has Without You (big European hit) and Diana Ross' cover version Do You Know Where You Going To. Album was appended with Japanese #1 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You in Japan. Standard version of Fantasy song was displaced in behalf of remix version with ODB. Ones received five-fold platinum in the US.

RAINBOW

Rainbow vydané 2.11.1999 je posledním albumem MC u Columbie. Získalo úspěch především díky prvnímu singlu Heartbreaker, na kterém MC spolupracovala s Jay-Z. Singl byl úspěšný v Evropě, ale hlavně v USA, kde se stal 14. hitem #1. Mariah také překonala rekord Beatles v počtu týdnů na 1. místě (víc měl v té době jen Elvis Presley). Jejím patnáctým #1 se stal singl Thank God I Found You. Cover verze od Philla Collinse Against All Odds nazpívanou s Westlife se stala druhým singlem #1 v Británii (první byl Without You). Album Mariah původně připravovala pro svůj první film s pracovním názvem All That Glitters, ale natáčení bylo posunuto na rok 2001 a Rainbow tak vydala jako sólové album. Spolupracovala prvně se slavnou autorskou dvojicí Jimmy Jamem a Terry Lewisem. Napsali spolu jedny z nejlepších skladeb alba (Bliss, Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme), Petals, Thank God I Found You) a tím MC nahradila Waltera. Song Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) se stal další hymnou pro fanoušky (jako je Hero) a díky tomu Columbia vydala tento song jako singl i komerčně se dvěma verzemi videoklipů. Album vzniklo v rekordně krátké době tří měsíců. K albu MC poprvé absolvovala celosvětové turné po Asii, Evropě a USA. Rainbow získalo 3x platinu v USA.

Rainbow was released November 2, 1999 and it is last the album of MC under Columbia label. Album earned success especially because of the first single Heartbreaker, MC's co-operation with Jay-Z. The single was successful all over Europe but mostly in the US where it became her fourteenth #1 hit. Mariah also surpassed Beatles' record with number of weeks on #1 (Elvis Presley had more at this time). Single Thank God I Found You became her fifteenth #1. Phill Collins' cover version Against All Odds - co-operation with Westlife - became second single #1 in UK (the first one was Without You). Mariah originally prepared this album for her first movie with working title All That Glitters, but filming was shifted to 2001. So MC released Rainbow as regular a studio album. She co-operated with famous author's duo Jimmy James and Terry Lewis for the first time. MC wrote with them some of best songs of this album (Bliss, Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme), Petals, Thank God I Found You) and with that MC replaced Walter. Song Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) became another fans "lamb" anthem (like Hero) and thanks to that Columbia released this song as a single commercially with two videoclip versions. This album was recorded in a short time of three months. MC arranged tour to this album, for the first time a world tour round Asia, Europe and US. Rainbow obtained triple platinum in the US.

GLITTER

Glitter vydaný 11.9.2001 měl být původně jen soundtrackem k filmu Glitter (Stát se hvězdou), ale krátce před vydáním se Mariah rozhodla vydat toto album jako studiové. Je to také první album vydané u nové společnosti Virgin Records. Album nemělo velký úspěch, prodalo se ho jen 3.5 miliónů kusů. Neúspěch byl zapříčiněn i datem vydání 11. září, kdy teroristé napadli Světové obchodní centrum. Obsahuje většinu songů, které zazní ve filmu. Najdeme tu několik cover verzí hitů 80.let (Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, I Didn't Mean to Turn You On). Mariah si pozvala velkou řadu spolupracovníků a hostů (Busta Rhymes, Da Brat, Mystikal, Eric Benet, Ludacris, ad.). Song Lead The Way napsala s Walterem Afanasieffem a opět spolupracovala s Terry Lewisem a Jimmy Jamem (Never Too Far, Twister, Want You, I Didn't Mean to Turn You On (tento song Lewis s Jamem napsali pro Cherrelle v roce 1984; plus produkce ), legendární Rick James pro ní napsal All My Life. V Japonsku album vyšlo ještě pod Sony Music. Album debutovalo jako #1 v soundtrackové hitparádě, v albové pak jako #7 (je to i jeho nejlepší umístění). První singl Loverboy dosáhl na #2 a další singly (Never Too Far and Don't Stop) se staly prvními singly MC, které se nedostaly do Hot 100. K Last Night a DJ Saved My Life bylo natočeno video, ale singl nebyl nikdy vydán, protože Virgin Records upustili od propagace alba a vyplacením MC s ní ukončili spolupráci.

Glitter, released September 11, 2001, should been only a soundtrack album for the Glitter movie. But MC had decided to release this album as a studio one shortly before release. This is the first album under the new label Virgin Records. This album wasn't too successful, only 3.5 mil pieces were sold. The small success was caused also by the release date September 11 when terrorists attacked The World Trade Center. This album includes most of the songs from the movie. There is a couple of cover versions from the eighties (Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, I Didn't Mean to Turn You On). MC invited whole bunch of co-operators and guests (Busta Rhymes, Da Brat, Mystikal, Eric Benet, Ludacris, etc.). She wrote Lead The Way with Walter Afanasieff again and also co-operated with Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jame (Never Too Far, Twister, Want You, I Didn't Mean to Turn You On (this song was originally written by Lewis with Jam for Cherrelle in 1984), legendary Ric James wrote for her All My Life. This album was released under the Columbia label in Japan. The Glitter album debuted as #11 on soundtrack chart and as #7 on standard album chart (#7 was also the peak). The first single Loverboy peaked on #2 and the other two singles (Never Too Far and Don't Stop) became her first singles not to reach HOT 100). The video for Last Night a DJ Saved My Life was filmed but the song wasn't released commercial because Virgin Records dropped from album's promotion and ended the co-operation with MC by paying her off.

GREATEST HITS

Greatest Hits vydané 4.12.2001 jsou prvním z výběrů Mariah vydaných u Sony Music po jejím odchodu z firmy. Na 2CD najdeme všechny singly od debutu v roce 1990 až po poslední album u Columbie - Rainbow. Navíc 2CD obsahuje duet s Lutherem Vandrossem Endless Love. Do bonusů se dostaly Against All Odds ve verzi s Westlife, All I Want For Christmas Is You v remixu s JD (tento remix byl předtím vydán pouze na re-edici singlu z roku 2000), Never Too Far/Hero Medley a Music Box. Vydání tohoto CD bylo mimo kontrolu MC, Columbia ho vydala po jejím odchodu. Album získalo ocenění Gold, poprvé MC nedosáhla na platinu.

Greatest Hits was released December 12, 2001. It is the first anthology brought out by Sony Music after her departure. We can find all her singles from 1990 debut to the last Columbia album Rainbow on this double CD. This 2CD also includes Luther Vandross' duet Endless Love. CD got some "new" songs as bonuses - Against All Odds with Westlife, All I Want For Christmas Is You in JD remix (this remix was released only on the single re-edition in 2000), Never Too Far/Hero Medley and previously released Music Box. The release of this CD was out of MC control because Columbia released this anthology after MC had left the Columbia label. The album received evaluation gold, MC didn't get the platinum for the first time.

CHARMBRACELET

Charmbracelet vydané 3.12.2002 na vlastním labelu Mariah - MonarC u DefJam - provázela rozsáhlá propagace především v TV. Vystoupila v Today Show, Oprah Winfrey Show a také v hodinovém speciálu MTV Shining Through The Rain (koncert prokládaný rozhovorem a setkání s fanoušky). Charmbracelet Mariah označuje jako pro ní nejvíc osobní a důležité album. Album pojmenovala podle náramku své babičky, kde každá část má svůj význam, stejně jako písničky na albu. Ke spolupráci při přípravě alba si pozvala J. Jimma a T. Lewise (Yours plus produkce Through The Rain), JDho (You Had Your Chance a The One), Damizzu (Irresistible), ad. Poprvé spolupracovala s Randy Jacksonem, který ji navrhl nahrát Bringing On The Hearbreak od Def Leppard, napsali spolu My Saving Grace a spolu produkovali songy, které napsala s Lionelem Colem (I Only Wanted, Sunflowers for Alfred Roy). S Lionelem napsala i první singl Through The Rain, ten se hrál spíše v Evropě (ve Španělsku dosáhl na 1. místo, v UK na 8. místo.) Dalším singlem měl být The One, ale Mariah usoudila i podle reakcí fanoušků, že bude lepší song Boy a na poslední chvíli se všechno změnilo. Vydání alba předcházela setkání fanoušků s MC po celých Spojených státech a později i v Evropě. Ještě před vydáním alba tak měli všichni možnost přímo si od Mariah poslechnout několik nových skladeb. K tomuto albu Mariah připravila své vůbec největší turné, celkem 69 koncertů po celém světě. Třetí singl Bringin' On The Heartbreak byl vydaný jen v několika zemí Evropy. CD v Japonsku vyšlo s bonusem Miss You (feat. Jadakiss) a v pozdější verzi i s I Know What You Want (Busta Rhymes feat. Mariah Carey & The Flipmode Squad). Díky těmto dvěma songům mělo album - jako jediné z alb MC - nálepku Parental Advisory. CD bylo později znovu vydáno jako Limited edition k podpoře turné s bonusovým CD s novými songy, včetně jednoho z nejzajímavějších "jazzy" songů There Goes My Heart plus skvělým remixem The One (So So Def).

MC released the Charmbracelet album under her own label - MonarC under DefJam on December 3, 2002. Island provided huge promotion especially on TV. MC performed at Today Show, Oprah Winfrey Show and also in one hour special MTV Shining Through The Rain (concert and talks with fans). MC marks the Charmbracelet album as her most personal and important album. She named the album after charmbracelet of her grandma - every part has its meaning same as each song on this CD. MC invited J. Jam and T. Lewis (Yours plus the Through The Rain production), JD (You Had Your Chance and The One), Damizza (Irresistible) and other for co-operation on this album. She worked with Randy Jackson for the first time. He made a suggestion to cover Def Leppard's Bringin’ On The Heartbreak and they wrote together My Saving Grace plus produced songs she wrote with Lionel Cole (I Only Wanted, Sunflowers for Alfred Roy). She also wrote her first single Through The Rain with Lionel. This single was played more likely in Europe (#1 in the Spain and #8 in the UK). The One should have been the next single but MC figured up that Boy will be a better choice because of fans reactions and everything was changed in the last minute. MC had been meeting with her fans before the album release, the first in the US and the in Europe. So lots of fans had an opportunity to listen some new tracks before the release of the album directly from Mariah. MC prepared the biggest tour for this album, total 69 concerts over the whole world. The third single Bringin' on The Heartbreak was released only in a couple of European countries. Japan got a bonus Miss You (feat. Jadakiss) and I Know What You Want with Busta Rhymes in the re-edition of the album and because of these two songs album got the Parental Advisory sticker - labeled as the first and the last of her albums. CD was re-released as a Limited Edition with bonus CD with new songs to promo the tour. It includes one of her most interesting "jazzy" song There Goes My Heart plus a great So So Def remix of The One.

THE REMIXES

The Remixes (říjen 2003, v Japonsku červenec) je druhé vydané 2CD Sony Music po odchodu MC z Columbie. 2CD obsahuje výběr nejoblíbenějších remixů, ale ne na všechny se dostalo (např. I Still Believe/ Pure Imagination). Na prvním CD jsou taneční verze hitů MC jako Fantasy (Def Club Mix) a Honey (Classic Mix) převážně od Davida Moralese. Na druhém CD jsou hip hopové songy s různými rapery (Da Brat, JD, ODB, Nas, Missy Elliott). CD obsahuje i novinky - hit I Know What You Want s Bustou Rhymes, nově nazpívaný remix The One (So So Def) s Bone Crusherem a Miss You s Jadakissem - dříve dostupné jen na japonské verzi Chrambracelet. Díky odchodu Tommyho Mottoly od Sony/Columbie mohla MC více vstoupit do procesu a také k podpoře dvojalba poskytla několik interview. Stejně jako u Greatest Hits MC s tímto albem nedosáhla na platinu, v USA se prodalo jen 250.000 kopií.

The Remixes (October 2003, but July in Japan) is the second CD from Sony Music after MC's departure from Columbia. This 2CD anthology contains the most favorite remixes but not all reached the album (I Still Believe/ Pure Imagination for example). The first CD includes dance version like Fantasy (Def Club Mix) and Honey (Classic Mix) largely from David Morales. The second CD comprises hip-hop songs with various rappers (Da Brat, JD, ODB, Nas, Missy Elliott). The CD also introduces new songs - the I Know What You Want hit with Busta Rhymes, re-sung remix of The One (So So Def) with Bone Crusher and Miss You with Jadakiss (previously available on Japanese version). MC had a better chance to enter the process of this album because of Tommy Mottola's departure from Columbia and she also provided a couple of interview to promote the album. But the CD didn't reach any platinum, the sales in the US stopped at 250,000 copies.

THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI

V dubnu 2005 vydala Mariah své nové studiové album The Emancipation Of Mimi, druhé album od DefJam. Hlavním producentem alba je L.A. Reid spolu s Mariah a koproducentem je Mark Sudack. CD má 14 písní, v Anglii s bonusem Sprung a japonská edice navíc obsahuje speciální bonus - Secret Love. Album vyšlo v základní edici a v limitované edici v digipacku. Albu předcházel hit It's Like That, který znamenal pro MC velký úspěch v USA především v airplay; nejvýše byl v Billboardu na 16. místě. V Evropě zaznamenal oproti předchozím singlům také úspěch, v Anglii debut na 4. místě a i další týden zůstal v TOP TEN. V Japonsku v dubnu obsadil v několika radio charts 1. místo. Dalším singlem byl hit We Belong Together, který se stal šestnáctým #1 hitem MC. Na albu s MC spolupracovali například Jermaine Dupri (It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off, Get Your Number, Makin It Last All Night ), poprvé Kanye West (Stay The Night), Neptunes (Say Somethin'), Swizz Beatz (Secret Love) a další. Jako hosté se na albu objeví Snoop Dogg (Say Something), Twista (One And Only a So Lonely), Nelly (To The Floor), JD (It's Like That, Get Your Number), Fatman Scoop (It's Like That) a speciální host - pastor Clarence Keaton (Fly Like A Bird). Doprovodné sbory s Mariah zpívají její oblíbení sboristé a přátelé Trey Lorenz, Mary Ann Tatum, Sherry Tatum, ad. Album je podle fanoušků jedním z jejích nejlepších v posledních letech a to nejen hudebně, ale především hlasově - Mariah se vyjádřila že si spoustu lidí přálo aby zpívala víc v nízkém a silném registru, takže to nazpívala jako takový mix. Na podzim 2005 Mariah připravila pro fanoušky speciální platinovu edici. Novinka - pátý singl - Don't Forget About Us se stal dalším hitem #1, už šesnáctým. Navíc byla vydaná i platinová verze s DVD, které obsahovalo videoklipy It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off a Get Your Number plus odkaz na nové video Don't Forget About Us a také speciální interview Mariah in Her Own Words. V lednu 2006 se album objevilo i v Japonsku - Ultra Platinum Edition obsahoval komplet všechny songy a navíc na DVD přímo všechny klipy i DFAU a také celý pořad Random Moments.

Mariah released her new studio album - the second one from Def Jam - The Emancipation Of Mimi in April 2005. The main producers and Mariah and L.A. Reid and the co-producer is Mark Sudack. The hit It's Like That preceded the album. This meant a big success for MC primarily in the airplay (US), the Billboard peak is #16. The song also registered a success in the UK contrary the last albums - the debut on #4 and the next week in the TOP TEN. The single occupied #1 in some Japanese radio charts. The second single We Belong Together became MC's sixteenth #1 hit. MC co-operated with several collaborators on this album - Jermaine Dupri (It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off, Get Your Number, Makin It Last All Night ), Kanye West for the first time (Stay The Night), Neptunes (Say Somethin'), Swizz Beatz (Secret Love) a the others. MC invited guest as Snoop Dogg (Say Something), Twista (One And Only and So Lonely), Nelly (To The Floor), JD (It's Like That, Get Your Number), Fatman Scoop (It's Like That) a special guest - the reverend Clarence Keaton (Fly Like A Bird). MC's favorite background singers and friends Trey Lorenz, Mary Ann Tatum, Sherry Tatum and the others appear on the album. This album is her best from the last years according to the fans - but not only musically but also vocally. MC expressed that lot of people wished for songs in the lower and strong register so she mixed it up. MC prepared special platinum edition for fans in the fall 2005. A new song - the fifth single - Don't Forget About Us became the sixteenth #1. The platinum version of the CD was also released with a DVD. This DVD contains videoclips It's Like That, We Belong Together, Shake It Off a Get Your Number plus the link to the new video Don't Forget About Us also contains special interview with Mariah - Her Own Words. The Japan got The Ultra Platinum version in January 2006 with all of 20 songs, all videos including DFAU and the whole show Random Moments.

E=MC2

Jedenácté studiové album nazvané E=MC2, tedy Emancipation = Mariah Carey To The Second Power vyšlo 8.4.2008. O prvním singlu se rozhodovalo v Def Jamu velmi dlouho, nakonec byl vybrán velmi chytlavý song ve středním tempu Touch My Body. Velký zájem podpořený zábavným a vtipným videoklipem, který se stal na dlouhé týdny nejstahovanějším a nejhranějším klipem v USA, pokračoval i v následujících týdnech. V dubnu se TMB dostal na dva týdny až na číslo 1 v Billboardu a stal se 18. hitem číslo 1 a MC tak překonala v počtu #1 singlů Elvise Presleyho. Druhým singlem se stala balada Bye Bye, dosáhla na 19. místo. Video obsahuje záběry z promo tour, Nicka s MC, Jacka a spoustu blízkých MC, kteří zemřeli (David Cole, ODB, Alfred Roy, ad.) Třetí singl I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time dosáhl #58. Krásný letní klip se natáčel na Havaji. Čtvrtým singlem se stala překrásná balada I Stay In Love. Song se do Hot 100 nedostal, ale jeho remix se stal #1 v Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. Na albu s Mariah spolupracoval stálý kolega Jermaine Dupri (4 songy), osvědčený autor balad James Poyser (soulový/gospelový klenot alba I Wish You Well). Mezi další skladatele a producenty patří Danja (Migrate), Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox, Swizz Beatz a 2 písničky napsala MC s kamarádkou Da Brat. Na celém albu zpívá Mariah opět jasným hlasem, především v nízkém registru, tedy tou nejhezčí barvou hlasu. Jednou z nejzajímavějších písní je i melodická For The Record (produkce s B.M.Coxem), kde Mariah zmiňuje nejen své oblíbené písničky (My All, ABMB, Underneath The Stars), ale uslyšíme i jeden z jejích nejdelších a nejvyšších vysokých tónů. Album se stalo šestým albem #1 Mariah.

The eleventh studio album named E=MC2, means Emancipation = Mariah Carey To The Second Power, was released 8.4.2008. Def Jam had been deciding the first song for a very long time and a mid-tempo catchy song Touch My Body was chosen eventually. The huge concern support by the funny video (the most downloaded and most played video in the US for long weeks) had been persisting in the subsequent weeks. Touch My Body reached #1 for two weeks in April and became MC's eighteenth #1 so she beat Elvis Presley in the number of #1 hits. The second single, the ballad Bye-Bye, peaked #19. The video contains scenes of the promo tour, Nick 7 MC, Jack and lots of MC's deceased closest ones (David Cole, ODB, Alfred Roy, etc.). The third single I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time peaked #58 and its summer video was made at the Hawaii. A wonderful ballad became the fourth single I Stay In Love. The single didn't reach HOT 100, but the remix became #1 at Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. MC collaborate with the enduring co-operator Jermaine Dupri (4 songs) and well-established ballad author James Poyser (the soul/gospel jewel of the album - I Wish You Well). The list of other songwriters and producers includes: Danja (Migrate), Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox, Swizz Beatz and Mariah's friend Da Brat (MC wrote 2 song with her). MC sings with the clear voice, especially in the low register hence hers the most beautiful voice color. The melodic For The Record it the one of the most interesting songs (MC produced the song together with B.M. Cox). Mariah mentions her favorite songs here (My All, ABMB, Underneath The Stars) and we can also hear one of her most longest and highest tones. This album became the sixth #1 Mariah's album.

THE BALLADS

Toto kompilační album vydané pod Columbií vyšlo v říjnu 2007, v USA pak v lednu 2009. Obsahuje nejprodávanější balady MC z dob Columbie plus dva songy od Virginu (žádné sondy od přesunu k Island Def Jam). MC k propagaci tohoto alba přezpívala hit Hero a natočila k němu i nové video (scény MC s Jackem ve studiu plus noční New York). MC album propagovala v X-Factoru songem Hero a také na inauguračním plese prezidenta Obamy. CD se prodávalo i v dárkovém balení s parfémem Luscious Pink. Vyšlo se třemi různými tracklisty – některé songy jsou jiné s ohledem na regionální úspěšnost. Album v Billboardu debutovalo jako #10 jako nejvyšší debut týdne. V Británii si udrželo #13 po dobu čtyř týdnů a v Irsku #8 po 12 týdnů s oceněním Gold.

This compilation CD released under Columbia label was published in October 2007 (in Jan 2009 in the US). The CD includes her most selling ballads from time of Columbia and two songs from Virgin (no songs from Island Def Jam). MC re-sung the Hero hit for the promotion of the album and she also made a new video (the scenes with Jack at the studio and New York during the night). MC promoted the album at the X-Factor and Obama's Inauguration Ball with Hero. The CD was sold with gift-pack with the Luscious Pink perfume and was released with three different tracklists - with the consideration of the songs' successfulness by the regions. The album debuted as #10 on the Billboard as the highest debut of the week and hold #13 for four weeks in the UK and #8 for 12 weeks in the Ireland with Gold estimate.

MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL

Na svém dvanáctém studiovém albu MC spolupracovala s Tricky a The-Dream, se kterými napsala předchozí hit Touch My Body. MC si přizvala i své dlouholeté spolupracovníky jako Jermaine Dupriho a Bryan-Michaela Coxe. Poprvé spolupracovala s Timbalandem. Prvním singlem se stal Obsessed, který zatím dosáhl nejvyššího umístění v Billboardu #11. Song i video dostaly remixovou podobu s hostem Gucci Mane. Druhým singlem je osmdesátková coververze od Foreigner – I Want To Know What Love Is. MC toto album označuje jako soukromý deník - "Hodně songů odráží nějaký specifický zážitek z mého života nebo jsou inspirovány filmy a zážitky mých přátel." Celé CD se věnuje tématu lásky - prožívání první lásky, její ztráty, vzpomínání na nejbolestivější momenty, na časy nevinnosti a radosti... Standin O má ironicky aplaudovat ex-příteli, takže můžeme čekat pravděpodobně druhé Side Effects. Stejně tak Betcha Gon Know - předpovídá karmickou odplatu pro vrtkavého milence. H.A.T.E.U. znamená Having A Typical Emotional Upset (mít typický citový zmatek) a je o fázi, kdy se chcete rozejít a čekáte, až se lítost změní v čistý vztek. MC zpívá tento song ve vyšším registru s pískáním jako poctu Minnie Riperton a jejímu songu Lovin' You. Candy Bling evokuje blažený ráj nové lásky, zatímco Inseparable lituje lásku, která nevyšla z důvodů, ktere je nemožné pochopit. More Than Just a Friend je fantazií o tom, v co se může běžný vztah proměnit. MC zmiňuje song, který se nedostal na album - Imperfect. Text je o faktu, že svět na nás tolik tlačí, zvláště na ženy, abychom byly perfektní ve všech možných směrech a to je nemožné, protože nikdo není perfektní, jen Bůh je dokonalý. "Vím, že jsem zkoušela být dobrým člověkem, ale rozhodně nejsem perfektní. Když jsem dala album dohromady, rozhodla jsem se ho nazvat Paměti nedokonalého anděla. Pamatuju se, že album Minnie Riperton se jmenovalo Dokonalý anděl. Takže si myslím, že to tak nakonec mělo být."

Standing O with its irresistible chorus sardonically applauds a faithless ex for his signature achievement. Betcha Gon' Know foresees karmic revenge for a wayward lover, so we can expect the second Side Effects. H.A.T.E.U. stands for Having A Typical Emotional Upset and it's about a wake of a breakup and longing for the moment when loss and regret transform into a cleansing anger. MC rises to new heights on that track in the upper register of her voice with the whistle as an honor to Minnie Riperton and her song Lovin' You. Candy Bling beautifully evokes the blissful realm of young love while Inseparable aches for a love that went wrong for reasons that seem impossible to comprehend. MC mentions song which didn't make it onto the album - Imperfect. "The lyrics of that song address the fact that the world puts so much pressure on us - especially on women - to be perfect and look a certain way, and that is impossible because nobody is perfect. Only God is perfect. I know I've tried to be a good person, but I am definitely no angel! But after I put this album together and decided to name it Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, I remembered that the Minnie Riperton album was called Perfect Angel. So I felt in so many ways that it was meant to be."
