Precious vyhrál na Spirit Awards ve všech pěti kategoriích, ve kterých byl nominován - Best Feature, Best Director - Lee Daniels, Best First Screenplay - Geoffrey Fletcher, Best Female Lead - Gabourey Sidibe, Best Supporting Female - Mo'Nique. Precious vyhrálo šest z osmi nominací na udílení cen NAACP (The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People): Nejlepší herečka (Gabourey Sidibe), Nejlepší herečka ve vedlejší (Mo'Nique), Nejlepší film, Nejlepší nezávislý film, Nejlepší scénář (Geoffrey Fletcher), Nejlepší režie (Lee Daniels). Gabourey Sidibe ve své řeči poděkovala i MC (viz níže).


"It is an honor to be nominated, but it is awesome to win. I love winning," Gabourey Gabourey told the crowd (including Sandra) who took to their feet after Chris Rock announced she was the winner. And the actress said she wasn't prepared to take home the award. "I didn't really expect this," Gabourey said as she tried to hold back tears. "I want to thank my God for ordering my steps, for everything that my life was and everything that it is now." Gabourey went on to thank her family and her director, Lee Daniels. "I walked into his office in jeans and sneakers and he saw a glamorous dress and heels, and he saw a star and I could never thank you enough, I can't," she said before taking a big breath to stifle the tears. And the actress also saluted her "Precious" co-stars for helping refine her natural talent. "I want to thank my teachers. My teachers happen to be Mo'Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah [Carey] and Sherri Shepherd – the people that I got the honor to work with and I thank you so, so much because I showed up not knowing what I was doing and I sat back and I watched you and thank you for teaching me," she added. "Lastly, I want to thank the 'Precious' girls everywhere, this is for you."

Is it fair that you got the blame for Mariah Carey's drunk speech?
Yeah, I do deserve the blame. I mean I told her to drink knowing that she had an empty stomach and it's not cool because I didn't know that we were gonna end up on You Tube. I didn't know that it was empty empty because Mariah and I will go out to dinner 'cause she don't like eating in front of a bunch of people. It's just not her thing. She was great. I mean, really she was fantastic. I looked great and she looked great and she was hot and I knew everybody, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and everybody's in the room like looking at us and we were bad-ass. We were just like, then we went back into the Green Room and stuff and all of a sudden I hear, "I said I want another glass of wine!" and I'm like, "Lee and you're on" and I was like, "Ha." I can handle it, you know, because I had been eating and I'm a guy and stuff and big but she hadn't.

Precious získal na Black Reel Awards ocenění v sedmi kategoriích: Nejlepší herečka (Gabourey Sidibe), herečka ve vedlejěí roli (Mo'Nique), režisér (Lee Daniels), scénář (Geoffrey Fletcher), film, obsazení a Breakthrough Performance (Gabourey Sidibe). MC byla nominovaná na Nejlepší herečku ve vedlejší roli, ale cenu získala její "kolegyně" Mo'Nique.

MC bohužel na udílení SAG Awards nezabodovala, ale dostalo se jí pozornosti díky její róbě, kterou média velice chválila. Z nominovaných si odnesla cenu jen Mo'Nique za Nejlepší herečku ve vedlejší roli.

MC by se měla zúčastnit udílení Zlatých glóbů konaných 17. ledna v losangeleském Beverly Hilton. Precious má tři nominace: Nejlepší snímek - drama, Nejlepší herečka v dramatu (Gabourey Sidibe) a Nejlepší herečka ve vedlejší roli v dramatu (Mo'Nique). Ceremonii bude živě vysílat NBC od 2 hodin v noci našeho času.

Britský ekvivalent Oscarů Britská akademie filmového a televizního umění (BAFTA) vyhlásila své letošní širší nominace. MC byla nominována na Nejlepší herečku ve vedlejší roli. Užší nominace budou oznámeny 21. ledna. "The thing is me and Lee hadn't seen each other in a long time and then he was presenting my award so he starts off immediately with inside jokes and I was like, 'Okay.' We've been sitting there celebrating this whole time having little splashes. I hadn't eaten, I pulled up, I didn't want to be late so I rushed in and that's what it was. We were really celebrating for the movie and everything that's going on with it. There's so much exciting stuff going on with Precious and you know, for the award that I was winning. But, you know, it's a time for celebration and [laughs] a time for not... but really, technically, it's kind of like a party atmosphere so they tricked you, you know what I mean? No, it was fun. If people don't understand me and think I'm just like this girl that stands by a microphone and sings 'Hero' then they're definitely not gonna get me. If people knew me better, they would understand I have a sense of humor and basically that's what gets me through life. And we had splashes of champagne. I love Lee but he's a bad influence."
