Precious received more nominations and awards including the highest ones - Golden Globes. We have to wait for Oscars till February. Mo'Nique grabs the Best Supporting Actress Award from Los Angeles Film Critics Association and also from Alliance of Women Film Journalists (EDA Awards - Excellent Dynamic Activism); together with Best Supporting Actress; and one more EDA Award for Precious - Unforgettable Moment Award. The American Film Institute (AFI) has named Precious as one of its Top 10 Films of 2009. Mo'Nique received another Best Supporting Actress Award from Boston Society of Film Critics plus Best Ensemble Cast for Precious.

Precious received four nominations from Detroit Film Critics Society: Best Actress - Gabourey Sidibe, Best Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique, Best Ensemble - Cast of Precious, Breakthrough Performance - Gabourey Sidibe. The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has announced the nominees for the 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards and Precious received six nods in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Actress - Gabourey Sidibe, Best Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Directing - Lee Daniels, Best Adapted Screenplay - Geoffrey Fletcher. Precious also received three Golden Globes nominations: Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Gabourey Sidibe, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Mo'Nique.

The stellar growth of Precious has stalled considerably after four impressive weekends. The film, stagnant on 664 screens, fell 67% from Thanksgiving weekend, a sharper drop than any film in the top 10, including The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The film grossed an estimated $2,310,000, averaging $3,469 and taking its total to $36,280,000. Sharp drops aside, though, that's a substantially impressive cume - the highest for a specialty platform release this year.

The Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) announced their 2009 winners on Monday. Precious won two awards out of the seven (no nomination for MC this time) they were nominated for - Best Breakthrough Performance (Gabourey Sidibe) and Best Supporting Actress (Mo'Nique).

Expanding to 629 screens, this was the weekend for "Precious" to truly prove itself a formidable box office entity. Adding on 455 screens and screening all over the country, it did just that. According to estimates provided by Rentrak today, the Lee Daniels film grossed $11,007,500 over this pre-Thanksgiving holiday weekend, averaging a fantastic $17,501. This was all the more impressive coming in the midst of one of the most robust female-driven box office weekends in film history. "Precious" is now heading into the Thanksgiving frame - one of the most potent of the year - with $21,403,000 already in its pocket, a gross some wondered if it could ever even hit. It's quite possible the film could be pushing $50 million before the awards boosts of December even comes into play.

The Producers Guild of America have announced that Precious: Based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire will be honored with the 2010 Stanley Kramer Award. The film's producers will be honored with the award at the 21st Annual PGA Awards ceremony on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Hollywood Palladium theatre, L.A. Previous winners include Milk, An Inconvenient Truth and Good Night, and Good Luck.

Lionsgate has been planning a massive campaign for Precious. They want to release the movie to 600 theatres over the Thanksgiving. Precious ended with 1.8 mil USD result for the opening weekend with 100.000 USD average on one theatre. The movie made 6 mil. USD for the first six days. It was released only in less than 180 theatres with the result average 35.000 USD per theatre. The movie made 9 mil USD in 10 days. Lionsgate also promote MC, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton and Sherri Shepperd a lot as candidates for Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Mariah and Precious co-stars Gabourey Sidibe and Paula Patton visited the Canfield Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles on Monday morning to spend some time to read books to the Canfield kids. This school is a neighborhood community school that supports diversity and reflects the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic make-up of Los Angeles.

Producers Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry have reportedly instructed Lionsgate to put their promotional machine behind fellow stars Mariah Carey and Gabby Sidibe for the Oscar race. Those two are adept at playing the game; both turned up in New York and Toronto to push the film for free opposite of Mo'Nique (she requested $100,000 appearance fee).

Precious has taken top honors at the Toronto International Film Festival, becoming the first film in history to win audience awards at both Toronto and Sundance. The second place belongs to Mao's Last Dancer directed by Bruce Beresford and the third one to Micmacs directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Lee Daniels was not able to attend the ceremony, but sent his regards. "I wish I could be there to accept this award on behalf of the film, but I just landed in San Sebastian, Spain, and I'm on my way to the film's premiere here in just a few hours," Daniels said in his absence: "Though I cannot begin to express my gratitude, as the audience award holds such a special meaning. I made this film for every person out there who ever looked in the mirror, and felt unsure about the person looking back at them. This is not an art film for a select few. This is a movie for everyone that can relate to. This film is for all precious girls, and for everyone who has a little precious on the inside." Precious, which stars Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton and Mariah Carey, was a big hit in Toronto. It will next screen at the upcoming New York Film Festival before opening in theaters this November, and its Toronto win only further cements its status as force to be reckoned with come Oscar season. Previous winners of Toronto's top honor include American Beauty, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hotel Rwanda and last year's Slumdog Millionaire.

Precious was selected to screen in The Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival, starting October 14, 2009. The film will play in the "Films On The Square" programme - the most anticipated new titles from around the world. The screening times: Oct 23 - 6 PM, Oct 25 - 1 PM and Oct 26 - 3:45 PM.

MC will fly directly to Toronto on Sunday morning after the second Vegas concert. The Precious premiere is on Sunday at the Toronto Film Festival. Mariah is sensational as Mrs. Weiss, the social worker who tries to bring together the two main characters. For MC Precious finally shows off her acting side. All bad memories of previous adventures on film are wiped out.

Mariah Carey's the 100% song which she wrote with JD propably won't manage the soundtrack of the Precious movie. Instead, a new theme song should be I See in Color from Mary J. Blige. The original track was included for the first time in a print of the film screened last week at Lionsgate in Santa Monica. Mary reacted to Precious quite emotionally. What she saw on the screen hit her so much that she became personally invested in the film and wanted to contribute in some way. I See in Color which plays during a key scene in the film is the result. But there's still chance for MC's song because nothing was confirmed officialy.
